AMR now active in WA

Jan 16, 2023

Last year we let our members know the automatic mutual recognition (AMR) of occupational registrations would be rolling out across the country.

AMR will allow a person who is registered or licensed for an occupation in one jurisdiction, to be considered registered to perform the same activities in another jurisdiction, without the need for further application processes or the payment of additional fees.

In WA, AMR is now in full effect which means waterwell drillers wanting to work in the state from South Australia, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, and Tasmania will be able to without applying for a WA licence. Other conditions apply for New South Wales and Queensland.

The first time that a drilling enters WA from interstate, they are requested to contact ADIA so that we can provide some information sheets detailing what the compliance requirements are.

Find full details on AMR, including the relevant information sheets, here.
