The Awards Process

Winners will be named at the DRILL24 Conference Dinner & Industry Awards Night on Wednesday, 16 October 2024.

Reviewing the nominations and picking the winners will be done by an independent judging panel to be made up of ex-industry personnel who are no longer actively working for any company.

Nominations are open to members only.

Prizes: The Driller of the Year, Young Driller of the Year and Woman of the Year, will each receive a complimentary pass to ADIA’s next major conference event, plus airfares and accommodation (See T&C’s below). The Safety Innovation of the Year award winner will receive a full-page company advertisement and associated editorial in the Australasian Drilling magazine.

Driller of the Year

2023 Winner: Brian Matthews, Boart Longyear

Recognising a driller who demonstrates excellence in contract drilling, including implementation of solutions to increase production, client relations and safety, and provides up and coming team members with learning support and inspiration.

This award is also open to senior drillers and supervisors.

Young Driller of the Year

2023 Winner: Daniel Rear, Boart Longyear

Recognising a driller with less than 5 years’ experience and who is already demonstrating that they have what it takes to excel in the role. They are consistently achieving their targets, taking good care of their equipment, maintaining site compliance and showing respect for other team members.

This award is only open to drillers with less than 5 years’ experience.

Woman of the Year

2023 Winner: Patrice Marinelli, Foraco

Diversity in the workplace is an increasing component of our industry and is also highly recognised and encouraged by many clients. This award is open to any woman who is directly involved in field operations and could be an offsider, driller, fitter or other similar role.

The judges will no doubt look for someone who is a stand-out role model for other women considering entering the industry.

Safety Innovation of the Year

2023 Winner: Wallis Drilling

Submissions are welcome from both drilling contractors, manufacturers and suppliers alike. The judges will be looking for something that is already being used in the field and with substantiated benefits for rig crew safety.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a hardware item and could be software, communications or similar, providing that it is used around the rig site.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Award winner will receive a complimentary pass to Drill 2024. ADIA will meet the cost of a return economy class airfare to Drill 2024, to a maximum value of $1,500, purchased in the awards winner’s name. Airfares and accommodation will only be purchased if the award winner resides in a different location to the ADIA conference event. Accommodation is restricted to three nights, with a maximum value of $300 per night. The accommodation must overlap with the conference dates.
