We offer a number of online, self-paced industry training courses that assist non-drilling personnel familiarise themselves with the industry.

Courses currently available are:

Please be aware that none of these courses make you a driller. Instead, they provide information on the basics involved.

Waterwell Drilling for Project Managers

This course is ideal for people working in the hydrogeology sector who have a need to broaden their knowledge on relevant drilling techniques and bore construction.

It is for those working for mining companies, engineering consultants, and shire councils who develop and manage drilling programs.

Content includes different techniques to drill a water bore, regulatory requirements to consider, bore construction and testing, and bore decommissioning. There are two open-book assessments that students must complete before receiving a certificate of completion.

Exploration Drilling for non-drillers

This course is ideal for people working in the exploration and mining sectors who have a need to broaden their knowledge on the different exploration drilling types and techniques.

It is for those working in mining and exploration companies, or geological consultants who have a role in designing and managing drilling programs.

Content includes exploration equipment types and methodologies widely used and the advantages and disadvantages of each type. It touches on causes of problems that may arise onsite and provides strategies for basic troubleshooting.

Geotechnical Drilling for non-drillers

This course is ideal for people working in the civil construction and mining sectors who have a need to broaden their knowledge on the different geotechnical drilling types and techniques.

It is intended for personnel working in civil construction, mining companies, or engineering consultants, who have a role in designing and managing drilling programs.

Content includes geotechnical equipment types and methodologies widely used and the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. It touches on causes for problems that may arise onsite and provides strategies for basic troubleshooting.

Mineral Production and Blasthole Drilling for non-drillers

This course is ideal for personnel working in the mining sector who have a need to broaden their knowledge on the different production drilling types and techniques.

It provides information to enable you to engage confidently with a drilling program. It is not intended for drillers, but for those who have a role in designing and managing drilling programs.

Content includes common types of mine-site drilling including raise bore, blast hole, stope, and tunnelling. The methodology and planning approach for each of the different methods is looked at including their unique role in an active mine.
